Madeleine Goes to the Moon

Madeleine Goes to the Moon stimulates the imagination and generates discussion amongst the children. It can also be used to inspire children to create their own story about where they might go and what might happen to them there.

Age Group – Nursery                                    Max. time per session / group – 30 minutes
  • Reading of the book
  • Talk to the children about some of the illustrations (e.g. what is in Madeleine’s room, who does she leave on the moon, how to spot a boy/girl alien).
  • Quick Q&A session
Age Group – Reception                    Max time per session / group – 30 to 45 minutes
  • Reading of the book
  • Show the children how the book was made (the children are given laminated handouts with draft sketches and storyboards on)
  • Quick Q&A session
  • Talk to the children about some of the illustrations (e.g. what is in Madeleine’s room, who does she leave on the moon, how to spot a boy/girl alien).
  • Ask the children questions to encourage imaginative thinking (e.g. where would they go, who would they take with them)
