During the last week of August, the Southport branch of Morrisons will be holding a week-long event called 'Morrisons Goes to the Moon' in support of the Sue Ryder charity (http://www.sueryder.org/). As part of the event, I will be selling signed copies of Madeleine Goes to the Moon there on Friday 28th August. If you haven't already got a copy (or if you want another...) please come along and purchase one on the day. I will be donating my profits made on the day to the charity so the more sold the better for everyone!
I may also be able to preview my next book Can You Draw the Dragosaur?, due to be released soon, and sure to be a monster hit!

There's plenty of work still to do, but I have a draft of my next book and it's going to be a MONSTER of a book!! And Children will be allowed to draw in it.... in fact they'll have to. Watch this space for more news...I've been quiet for a while as I've taken a bit of a break after a hectic period to take stock and plan my next move(s). I have now updated the 'Information for Schools' section of my website giving more detail on what is possible during a school visit. I also expect to be pretty busy in the coming months as I have a project that may or may not start soon (fingers crossed) and am also working in the background on some very polished submissions to publishers. The single hardest thing I have to do as an author is submit my stories to publishers - it is like submitting an extremely difficult CV to the job you really want above anything else, with no clue or guidance at all as to what they would like to see, and no guarantee that they will even bother to look at it....... but as the saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
Madeleine Goes to the Sunken Shipwreck is now available to pre-order from the Kickstarter website for 30 days only. Click the link below to purchase:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1914033208/madeleine-goes-to-the-sunken-shipwreck Here is a brief summary of how Kickstarter works for those unfamiliar with the site: 1. Go to the Kickstarter project (link below) and choose what you want to pre-order (Kickstarter calls each package a ‘pledge’). 2. Provide payment details but pay nothing now. 3. If enough people pre-order, the book will be created and payment will be taken. 4. The book (and anything else you order) will be delivered in October. I will keep everyone updated on progress being made. So in short – you order it – we make it – then we deliver it. Thanks!! I plan to launch my Kickstarter project on 2nd March to raise enough funds to enable me to get Madeleine's next adventure illustrated and printed. If you are interested in reading her next adventure, watch this space or follow me on Facebook and please support me by visiting my Kickstarter project to find out more (live soon). And please, tell everyone you know so that we can turn Madeleine's next imaginary adventure into a reality..... thank you!
I'm very happy and excited to say that the next book in the Madeleine series is written..... in Madeleine Goes to the Sunken Shipwreck, Madeleine ventures to the bottom of the ocean in search of sunken treasure on a pirate shipwreck....... but what she finds there gives her an unexpected fright...
I have been somewhat surprised and very pleased with the overwhelmingly positive response I have received towards Madeleine Goes to the Moon to date. I am constantly asked (in particular by Children and teachers) when the next book is coming out, and I am hoping that I will be able to say, with absolute certainty, later this year. As things stand, the story is complete, and the other half of the creative team, the excellent Charlie Roberts, is sharpening her pencils in preparation. However, making a book is not free unfortunately, and so at some point in the next few weeks I will be launching a Kickstarter project to fund it's creation. For those of you not familiar with Kickstarter already it's fairly simple so here's a basic overview of how things will work: 1. I launch a project with a lifespan of 30 days and a target goal (in £'s) that must be reached as a minimum for the project to 'succeed'. 2. If you choose to support my project then you can do so by pre-purchasing one or more copies of the book. There will be different packages available, some with one-off added extras. 3. If enough people contribute and I meet or exceed my target goal, then it's all systems go and we will start making the book (I say 'we' although in honesty the vast majority of the work at that stage will be done by Charlie). 4. If, after 30 days, the target goal is not met (we've not sold enough books), then the project is cancelled and we won't be able to make the book. (If you had backed the project you back out fully and pay nothing in such an instance, so there is no risk.) I'm sure you can understand that this is a really big deal for both myself and Charlie, and also that the 30 day period when the Kickstarter project is running will be really important for us. Please please please can I ask that if you are interested in reading the next book in the series (or if your Children are) then we will need your support while the project is live. With that in mind, please spread the word and keep an eye on my posts here and on Twitter/Facebook. I apologise in advance for all of the inevitable nagging/begging over the next few weeks, hopefully you will understand, and if we can get this project live, then books 3 and 4 are already in progress... Thank you for your support. Pete I've been a bit quiet of late as I have been extremely busy in the background working on a few things, one of which I might be able to announce soon.... In the meantime though, Madeleine Goes to the Moon has received a price cut and is now that little but cheaper, and we well know that every little helps...... If you've haven't already got your copy perhaps now is the time!
http://englishrosebooks.co.uk/index.php http://www.amazon.co.uk/Madeleine-Goes-Moon-Peter-Lynas/dp/1907960147/ref=tmm_pap_title_0 This year World Book Day is on 5th March. I will be donating a signed book and more importantly judging a competition being run by Morrisons in Southport. Local children are being invited to either write a short story or to create an illustration for their favourite story. Morrisons will be donating prizes to the winners schools so as the official judge there is some pressure involved!
If you wish to find out more then please get in touch and I will be happy to help point you in the right direction. http://worldbookday.com/ I will be reading Madeleine Goes to the Moon at Southport Library at 10:30am as part of their Story & Rhyme weekly programme. If you are in the area then by all means bring your children along to listen. Signed books will also be available on the day.
After a Christmas break and a quiet start to the New Year things are due to pick up again as normality returns for everyone.
