It's 2 months ago today that Madeleine Goes to the Moon was officially released. It actually seems like much longer, but that must be because I have been so busy for the whole time doing promotional work, visiting schools, attending book signings etc.
Anyway, it's a nice opportunity to sit back and be thankful that I managed to get my first book published and that it has been so well received by so many people. This feels a bit like a speech.... but I would like to thank English Rose Publishing for giving me this opportunity, and for being so supportive and pleasant to work with. I would also like to give a big thanks to Charlie not just for the fab illustrations, but because working together on the book and making it the best we could was a great experience and it was really rewarding to see the end result.
Many people have asked me when the next book is coming out, and all I can say right now is please just watch this space. I'm looking forward to working with Charlie on the sequel, but first of all I have to focus on promoting this book as much as I can. The good news is that Madeleine's next adventure doesn't need writing... that part is already done.......
It looks like I might be appearing on local radio sometime soon, so if that happens I will give everyone adequate warning so you can switch your radios off! I'm also lining up some book signings and reading events for January but I am currently available for most of December. If anyone wants me to visit their school/library/bookshop then by all means get in touch. Finally, for those of you in the region, there should be a pretty nice article in the next edition of the Lancashire Evening Post.
Now that Madeleine Goes to the Moon is available on Kindle too have any of you tried it out yet? If so, how did you find it, do you have any comments or feedback? If so please do let me know.
Also, if you have purchased a copy on Kindle and also posted a review on Amazon please get in touch and let me know to claim your free signed copy of the book. I can see a lovely new review on Amazon (thank you whoever you are!) - if you are a frazzled mum and purchased the Kindle version then your signed book awaits.... There a a total of 3 up for grabs, and it only takes 5 minutes to post a review.
I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks hence the lack of updates, but in that time we have received more reviews of Madeleine Goes to the Moon, and so far they have all been excellent. But please don't take my word for it, check out the links below (you may have to scroll down on each to get to Madeleine Goes to the Moon):
This is a review by 6 year old Martha who read the book and wrote the review herself.
This review is from a popular, prolific and honest blogger.
There are now two five star reviews on mumsnet.
Another popular blogger who (rather excellently) reviews books with his daughter for a well rounded opinion.
And last but not least, here Madeleine Goes to the Moon was chosen as Young Children's Book of the Month.
Please please please, if you have a copy of the book and you liked it (or even if you hated it) could you take the time to post a review on Amazon. It doesn't have to be lengthy, and you needn't have purchased the book from there, but the number of reviews on Amazon do make a huge difference. We currently have 7 in the UK, but we need many more to raise the profile of the book.
To those of you who have already posted a review, thank you. And to those of you who intend to do so, thank you in advance!
